MINDFUL MOVEMENT

People often ask “what is Qigong”? Quickly followed by “How do you pronounce it?” Firstly it is pronounced chee-gong and in its simplest form qigong means moving meditation. Although it is meditative don’t be fooled it is also a great physical workout.

It builds balance, heart rate, lung capacity and mobility. It also quietens a busy mind, bringing the nervous system back into balance and bringing your attention into the moment, allowing for a clearer, quieter mind.

GOOD TO KNOW

Qigong is suitable for all physical abilities and although traditionally done standing up can also be done sitting.

It is suitable for all all ages.

You move through forms, rather than holding a stretch and this allows for flow. which in turn achieves a greater ease in the body, enabling you to release tension through each repeated movement.

In opening through these movements the body finds an equilibrium that allows for increased physical strength alongside a calmer mind.
